Know Your Heart: A step to a healthy heart

Your heart is a muscle. It is roughly the size of your fist and weighs 200 to 425 grams. It can keep five litres of blood flowing through your body at all times and in a normal lifetime; a heart will beat billion times.

To get a healthier heart... try to control you daily calorie needs. Few people know exactly how many calories they need each day, but you can work that out by multiplying your weight in kilograms by 28 to 33 depending on how active you are. Most women need just below 2000 calories a day for good health, men generally about 2550.
