Detox yourself : A Step to glowing skin.

The state of your skin is a direct reflection of what you eat and drink, so consuming lots of fresh food and drinking plenty of water will make you look and feel much healthier.

The following are good detox foods.

- Fruit : Fresh apricots, beries, melon, citrus fruits such as oranges, peaches, mango and grapes.

- Vegetables : Artichokes, peppers, beet-root, broccoli, tomatoes, red cabbage, turnip and watercress.

- Beans and grains : chickpeas and brown rice.

- Fish : salmon, mackerel, cod, sardines and tuna

- Meat : organic, skinless turkey and chicken.

- Nuts and seeds : Almonds, brazils, hazelnuts, pumpkin, sunflower and sesame seeds.

Avoid over-indulging on foods which your body finds hard to detoxify, such as red meat, dairy products, white bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, white bread, fried food, sugar, alcohol, tea, coffee and soft drink. A 12 year study of 90,659 women aged 26 to 46 as found that high red meat consumption may be associated with the increased risk of hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer in premenopausal women. “Subjects who are ate more than 1.5 servings of red meat a day had nearly double the risk of those who ate less than three servings a week”, says Eunyoung Cho, head author of the study and an assistant professor at medicine at Harvard Medical School). Try as well to drink 2 litres of filtered water every day and take a multivitamin and mineral pill along with 1000 mg of vitamin C. Follow this regime for 2 weeks.
